The Char Dham Yatra is a revered pilgrimage in Hinduism, encompassing four sacred sites located in the majestic Himalayas of Uttarakhand, India. The term “Char Dham” translates to “four abodes” and refers to the four holy places of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Each of these destinations holds immense religious significance and is believed to be associated with various Hindu deities.
The journey begins with a visit to Yamunotri, the source of the Yamuna River, where devotees seek the blessings of Goddess Yamuna. From there, pilgrims proceed to Gangotri, the birthplace of the holy river Ganges, to pay homage to Goddess Ganga. The third stop is Kedarnath, nestled amidst the breathtaking Himalayan peaks, where the revered Kedarnath Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva awaits. The final destination is Badrinath, a town known for its iconic Badrinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and surrounded by stunning natural beauty.
